Composer‐pianist Marie Incontrera is a Brooklyn native whose music has been performed throughout the U.S. and internationally at such esteemed venues as Carnegie‐Weill Hall, Symphony Space, Christ and St. Stephen's church, Galapagos Art Space, Roulette, the Kaufman Center and the Meridian Festival in Bucharest, Romania. In the 2010‐2011 season, she has been a featured composer on the highSCORE festival in Pavia, Italy, a winner of the Vocalessence Choral Readings, a finalist of the Iron Composer Competition, and been commissioned by the Atlanta Opera. She is currently a finalist of the Young New Yorkers Chorus Competition, which has led to a commission to be premiered in December 2011. She has been a featured composer in the New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, Electronic Music Midwest, International Electroacoustic Music Festival, Hartford Women Composers' Festival, Music in Midtown and Max Lifchitz's North‐South Consonance Series. She won the Remarkable Theater Brigade's Art Song Competition and is RTB’s Young Composer in Residence. Incontrera has been the recipient of the Miriam Gideon Composition Award, a Meet the Composer Metlife Creative Connections award, and two ASCAPlus awards. She has been a participant of the New York Youth Symphony's Making Score Program and the John Duffy Institute. Her works have also been performed and read by the New York Youth Symphony's Symphony Singers, Quartetto Indaco, American Composers Orchestra, Existential Pilot, and Basso Moderno. This fall, her string quartet, Limbic Breath, is being recorded by the Boston String Quartet for release on PARMA Records in early 2012.
